Where do you go off at night?

People whom know me, know that I write day in and day out. And I don't mean code. I write stories and poems. I've got tons of stuff on my computer that I haven't submitted on my website yet, well, because I've been a lazy programmer @ home.

To me writing is fun, it is relaxing and it is my favorite pass time next to sleeping, my job and riding my bike.
That is why I was so amazed at reading this: http://toddkeisling.com/tk/?p=630. It's a rant of one of the writers blogs I follow.

It feels so amazingly negative as I read it, while I personally don't feel that way about writing. But then again, I'm not writing for a living, I don't have a diploma as a writer and I don't even remotely feel like what I write is ever going to be more than a pass time. But I'm cool with that. I don't really long for more.

There's a joke that went around the workplace @ December/January about our boss probably paying yoga classes for us, because we stayed zen during the whole rush of museum applications to finish without time to finish them.

In reality, this is my yoga and zen and everything you like. It empties the head of all what's been going on and you just plunge in that world with twisting plots.

A story, as I feel it, consumes you entirely. And like Todd says you just have to write it. At times I do feel it's a shame that I have to break off the story because I to have to leave for work. Or because it's about three in the morning and it's really time to get some rest because I need my head to crack those beautiful programming puzzles at work.

But I don't think it's a bad thing to have something to look forward to when you get home. What I do hate is getting stuck at a part you are writing because the flow of words just doesn't feel as brilliant as the night before. It helps to go and read/edit some other chapter or something entirely different.

Btw, I've got this story floating around on my hard drive that is in an amazing perpetual editing phase. But I might throw some pieces of it at you, when I ever get around to set up my bookshelves in this virtual playground.

Until then, I'm just going to write some more :-)

Good night.
